Gladiator

When a sniper kills a group of war veterans at a remote shelter camp, the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) turns to former special forces soldier Niels Oxen for help.

Oxen agrees to assist his old colleague, Margrethe Franck, but the investigation proves extremely difficult:

The sniper likely has far more crimes on his conscience, and a young female police officer keeps mysteriously crossing their path. Furthermore, for reasons unknown, PET has suppressed details of the case.

For PET, the highly decorated Oxen is the right man to send into no-man's-land in pursuit of the culprits.
For Oxen himself, the mission becomes a fateful one as he comes face to face with death.

Gladiator is a standalone installment in the story of Niels Oxen. The book can be read independently of the titles in the completed Danehof Trilogy - De hængte hunde, De mørke mænd, and De frosne flammer - as well as the series' fourth volume, Lupus.
