FRÆNDE – Blodspor (Blood Traces) is a Viking thriller I co-authored with Jeanette Varberg, a museum curator and Viking expert at the National Museum of Denmark. FRÆNDE 2 will be published in Spring 2027.

DENMARK, YEAR 862

For the young skald Gunhild Ildtunge, the great sacrificial feast at Lejre takes a dramatic turn.
Following the night’s revelry, a jarl’s son is found with his throat slit inside the king’s hall. Nearby lies Gunhild’s brother, asleep, smeared in blood, with the murder weapon at his side.

It looks like an open-and-shut murder case destined for a swift trial.

Only at the very last moment—with the help of Faysal, an aging Arab thrall, swineherd, and physician—does Gunhild manage to cast doubt on her brother’s guilt and secure a stay of execution.

Gunhild and Faysal are given nine days to prove his innocence, catch the real killer, and bring them back to Lejre.

It becomes a breakneck chase across the kingdom. Hot on the heels of this unlikely duo are four black-clad riders with a very different agenda.
